Sickness and laziness

Sickness and laziness

Was in Singapore for a few days attending a seminar. I've always been an admirer of Lee Kuan Yew. The best thing about Singapore is that it's so pedestrian-friendly. If I tried walking the same distance I did there here in Bangkok, I probably would've collapsed with a massive case of heatstroke. Overall, I had a good time. We spent most of our time on Orchard Road, which to me just seems like one giant strip mall. We did get out to the famous merlion statute, and also the historical Raffles Hotel. A bunch of famous British authors stayed there during the colonial period. It seemed quite prim and proper, and I loved it. I'm a sucker for historical places. Didn't go inside, but walked around and saw people taking tea. Fancy. Of course, then I got back to Thailand and fell ill. My dad says I don't take to travel very well. Just a few hours after I landed back in the Kingdom, I got all feverish and went to bed feeling so hot, you could've cooked an egg on my forehead. I'm better now, but feeling lazy as heck. Doesn't help that I have summer classes to teach and an exam to proctor. But hey, that's life, right? It never stops.

Final thought: Maybe I ought to start taking vitamins?
