Getting out of my head for Sayuri

Getting out of my head for Sayuri

Watched Memoirs of a Geisha with Alan and Sittha. At first, we were supposed to go to the theater at the newly opened Siam Paragon ("The Pride of Bangkok" - note my sarcasm), but it wasn't even open to the public yet. Anyhow, I got a new tutoring gig that ended at three, went down to Paragon, Alan got there at four-ish and we hung out until eight when Sittha showed up. Yes, that was a whole lot of hours spent in yuppie HELL. But I just had to see the movie. I loved, loved, LOVED the book. No spoilers, so you can read on. I have to say, the book was still the winner for me. Anyhow, it was a nice break. My head has been buried in all things English language related so long, it was nice to get out of my head for a few hours. I still have a ton of work to do (per usual), and I'm just taking a little breather. Good to know I wasn't wholly stood up by Marc :) Although I suspected the reason why he didn't call back was family and such (I understand the holidays). I'm glad I watched the movie with at least one other person who'd read and appreciated the book as much as I do. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to find out Sittha is also the kind of guy who enjoys sitting through the trailers. Just nice to know I'm not the only nut who likes that kinda thing...Laughing

Final thought: No offense to Michelle Yeoh, but she is nothing like Mameha.
